Oregon Loses Game, Becomes No. 1 Contender for Heavyweight Title

In the opening week of football, most teams usually don’t look very sharp. For example, the Oregon Ducks on Thursday night. They gained a total of 150 yards and turned the ball over twice against Boise St.

But at least we know that in a losing effort, the Ducks will always fight to the finish. And some of them might fight long after that.

At the end of the 19-8 loss — which really should have been something more like 32-8 — Ducks senior running back LeGarrette Blount starting yapping with Boise State sophomore defensive end Byron Hout. You see that all the time in football. No worries.

But instead of walking away in disappointment, Blount decided to keep it real and politely introduce his fist to Hout’s face.

The straight right landed flush on Hout’s chin and he went down. Blount started looking like he was ready to take on the whole state of Idaho before he was directed to go to the locker room. On his way, Blount let some words from Broncos fans get to him and he started to charge at the crowd, but was he forcefully restrained and carried back underneath the tunnel.

Good start for the Ducks. You get embarrassed on national TV and your leading rusher brings back memories of Kermit Washington.

Blount, who was suspended from the team in February, was a 1,000-yard rusher last season and scored 17 touchdowns. Needless to say, you won’t be seeing him on the field for a while. I don’t think I am out of bounds by saying that Blount should probably be suspended for at least half of the season for that sucker punch.

But all good judgment and political correctness aside, that was a perfect cheap shot. I mean, he just clocked him! Awesome!

Oh, and absolutely disgraceful.

Pretty incredible that Oregon’s “leading rusher” had a grand total of negative five yards and -2 points (conversion that he gave up) in the entire game. He should have been waddling into the locker room with his head beneath his wing rather than taking a cheap shot at a guy that was clearly looking the other way. It takes a pretty tough guy to sneak a punch in on an unsuspecting guy, while you still have your own helmet on.

I’d like to see him on “Bully Beatdown”, that would be worth watching!

Dude, is it even possible to set an over/under for blog posts about this for the next 24 hours?

I would set it at 4,365.5.

    Hout’s a bitch, though.

What about his teammates. I get that coach was right there, but your boy was just cold-cocked, and you don’t do anything. If I’m Hout, I’m transferring to Idaho State. Forget the Broncos; they don’t have his back.
